My ultimate professional goal currently is to become a nurse. Since I am still in nursing school, I have to first focus my efforts on finishing nursing school and passing the NCLEX. To achieve this goal, I want to continue managing my time between my BSN classes and nursing classes, prepare for the NCLEX, and remember why I chose to become a nurse in the first place. So I feel that goal of finishing nursing school and passing the NCLEX is my short-term goal because I hope to achieve it this year. As for my long-term goal in the profession of nursing, I hope to further my education and obtain a Masters in Nursing. More specifically, I wish to obtain a Masters of Science in Nursing with a concentration in public health. I feel that public health is the way of the future of healthcare and I want to be a part of it. The reason I enjoy public health so much is that I enjoy educating the public. I enjoy spending the time it takes to explain the need for vaccinations or safety in the home for children and making a difference in families lives.

Now

My goals have not changed much since the start of the ODU Nursing Program. The only difference is that I am two weeks away from the completion of nursing school and then it will be time to take the NCLEX. My ultimate professional goal is still to return to graduate school and obtain a Masters in Nursing with a concentration in Public Health. I enjoy serving the public and I hope to begin to fulfill that dream as I begin my career as an ER Nurse.
